Housewares

Housewares refers to any kind of goods or products used within a household, and while this seems a very simple definition, there is a massive list of things to which the term applies.  If you look around whatever room you're in, anything that isn't part of the home itself is considered to be within the category of housewares.

The Thomson Reuters Business Classification is a system created to classify all forms of trade and business with the intent of fitting all goods and services into specific categories.

Under that system, any kind of houseware fits into one of three sub-categories:

-Appliances, Tools, and Housewares
-Home Furnishings
-Consumer Electronics

Most homeowners spend their entire lives accumulating housewares, replacing old with new and, ideally, getting rid of the old.  Although there is a point at which a home can be comfortably and appealingly decorated, and equipped with everything you might need, it's important to recognize when something isn't worth keeping.

This might be because the use for which it was acquired is no longer present, or because it's been replaced by something intended for the same purpose, but either way, holding on to the old is how a storage space can quickly become overwhelmed with junk.  Worse than just an overloaded storage closet are the extreme cases in which hanging onto housewares becomes hoarding, which has numerous detriments on both quality of living and the occupants states of mind.
