Vancouver Island Voted Best Island in Canada

Victoria made a splash this week in Travel & Leisure Magazine, where readers voted Vancouver Island the #1 island in Canada in a survey for the magazine’s World’s Best Awards!

The magazine praised our island’s special blend of wilderness and civilization, with an easy transition “from the sophisticated, historic city of Victoria to the feeling of getting away from it all.” Those who live here have experienced this firsthand, with several gorgeous beaches, parks, and rivers within an hour drive from the capital region. One reader put it this way: “Whether you just want to look, or explore the island on foot, kayak, or boat, you will be delighted.”

Travel & Leisure goes on to praise the “restaurants, shops, galleries, and hotels” Victoria has to offer, as well as “its history and natural grandeur,” including beautiful hiking adventures and witnessing the majesty of a pod of whales, whether you’re searching for them on a tour, or happening upon them by accident.
