With all the features and facilities that Gordon Head Recreation Centre offers, it’s easy to stay active and fit. From fitness to swimming classes for all levels and a well equipped weight room, there is certainly a wide variety of activities to choose from. Even those who may be new to fitness; have been away from it for a while, or individuals in need of rehabilitation can find something to suit their specific needs. From the advanced to the novice; Gordon Head has it all.

If being in the water is your preference, there is no shortage of activities to choose from including more than one type of pool.

  • The main pool has a climbing wall, rope swing, slide, monkey bars and stairs
  • The leisure pool is 1 metre at its deepest point and has sprayers, waterfalls, and bubblers
  • The river pool has a tot pool with a shallow water area
  • The pool area is 100% wheelchair accessible including shower wheelchairs and aquatic wheelchairs on deck

Gordon Head Rec Centre has made sure that their facilities are accessible for and by all who wish to use their facilities. Their washrooms and change rooms are wheelchair accessible and 2 of the family change rooms are equipped with lifts. Other features that make this facility an accessible one include:

  • Handy Dart loading zone
  • Scooter charging station
  • Wheelchair access to gym and weight room
  • Warm water in lap pool which is appropriate for those with arthritis and circulation issues
  • WHISPA lift into the tot and main pools

Trying to stay active while rehabilitating from things like an accident or surgery can be a challenge both in getting to a facility and making sure the staff are highly knowledgeable and skilled in working with those who have special needs. The staff within the Rehabilitation Services is specially trained to work with a wide range of health concerns including:

  • Physiotherapy
  • Aquatic exercise therapy
  • Massage therapy
  • Cardiac rehabilitation
  • Nutritional Consulting
  • Registered group classes

Attending fitness classes can be challenging while trying to juggle today’s hectic daily schedules. Gordon Head Recreation Centre offers drop-in fitness classes in all levels, making easier to take care of yourself and stay active. They have two separate schedules; a summer schedule and a winter schedule. You can also check out their Active Living Guide for a complete list of all classes.

There is also a well equipped weight room and if you are new to weights or wish to ramp up your routine, it’s a good idea to book an appointment with one their personal trainers. They offer a lot of different choices that will help get you on your way whether you are a novice or have years of experience.

From Yoga to martial arts and youth programs, there are so many ways to keep your whole family active at Gordon Head Recreation Centre. They have a great selection of Family & Special Events, Early Childhood classes, birthday parties and so much for. Getting to the Centre is easy either by bus or by car. Take a look at the map of the area for the best route to take if you are arriving by car. BC transit also goes to the Centre from various points in and around Victoria. Monday to Thursday 6:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.
Friday 6:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Saturday 6:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Sunday 7:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Statutory Holidays:
