Sidney Street Market

For the past 17 years, every Thursday night from June to August, Sidney’s Beacon Street is turned into a vibrant and lively street market. The town’s charming main street is then closed to traffic and has grown into one of B.C.’s most popular and festive street markets.

With up to 5,000 visitors a night and more than 150 vendors offering up homemade goods, local artisan jewelry, fresh area produce, flowers, clothing and more it’s little wonder that residents and tourists alike have made this a must-do activity all summer long.  A host of musical performers help create a fun and family friendly atmosphere where everyone can soak up the sounds and sights while supporting local businesses, farmers, and artisans.

The market is free to attend and has a fabulous line-up of vendors and performers along with entertainment for all ages. The scent of fresh food fills the air and no one can resist sampling things like:

  • Fresh donuts being baked
  • Home-made fudge for sweet lovers
  • And at times, fresh baked salmon burgers handed out to passers-by

Every week people flock to the market to visit their favourite vendors and to check out who might be new that year. Putting together such a popular market from year to year is no easy task. Organizers have, from the beginning, been able to include both vendors and performers that complement one another and add their own personal flare to create a fun and festive atmosphere.
